Wellness by the Ocean

At Segara, wellness is not something you book — it’s something you feel every day. Surrounded by the ocean on Nusa Ceningan, we’ve created simple but powerful ways to reset your body and mind.

The Signature Wellness Ritual

Sauna & Cold Plunge

This is the heart of wellness at Segara. Our guests often describe the sauna and cold plunge ritual as the highlight of their stay. The heat opens the body, the cold resets the mind, and doing it with the ocean just steps away creates a powerful sense of renewal.

Our Finnish cedar sauna — the only one of its kind on Bali — is heated to 90°C by a genuine Harvia stone heater, with panoramic windows facing west over the Indian Ocean. Step outside onto the open deck and into the cold plunge under the open sky.

02

The Cold

Step out onto the open deck and into the cold plunge under the sky. The cool water resets your mind, sharpens your senses, and leaves you feeling completely awake and alive.

03

Good to Know

How to Enjoy Wellness at Segara

When is the best time for the sauna and cold plunge?

Many guests love the ritual in the morning to start the day fresh, or in the late afternoon as the sun begins to set over the ocean — the west-facing windows are spectacular at golden hour.

Is the sauna available to all guests?

Yes. The sauna and cold plunge are open to resort guests, and to day visitors with a minimum spend at the restaurant and bar.

Do I need to book in advance?

During busier times we recommend reserving your session in advance, as the sauna is one of our most popular experiences. Message us on WhatsApp to check availability.

Can I combine wellness with my stay?

Absolutely. Many guests build their whole stay around the ritual — morning sauna, ocean swim, pool, and a slow sunset. Room + Sauna packages are available when you book direct.

What are the benefits of a sauna and cold plunge?

Regular sauna and cold plunge use — often called contrast therapy — can support circulation, ease muscle soreness, reduce stress, and leave you feeling mentally sharper. The heat dilates blood vessels and relaxes the body, while the cold constricts them and triggers a refreshing, alert state. Many of our guests say it is the most energising part of their stay on Nusa Ceningan.

How long should I stay in the sauna and cold plunge?

If you are new to contrast therapy, start with 8–12 minutes in the sauna and 1–2 minutes in the cold plunge, and repeat the cycle two or three times. Experienced users often stay longer, but the goal is to feel refreshed, not exhausted. Always listen to your body, stay hydrated, and take breaks on the ocean-view deck between rounds.

Is the sauna and cold plunge safe for beginners?

Yes. The ritual is safe for most healthy adults, and our team is happy to walk first-timers through it. Start with shorter sessions, breathe steadily, and never push through discomfort. If you have a heart condition, high or low blood pressure, are pregnant, or have any medical concerns, please check with your doctor before using the sauna or cold plunge.

What should I bring for the sauna and cold plunge?

Bring a swimsuit, a towel, and a water bottle — that is all you need. We provide fresh towels for resort guests, and there are changing facilities near the wellness deck. After your session, a shady spot on the deck and a cold drink from the pool bar make the recovery feel even better.

Is there a sauna and cold plunge near Nusa Lembongan?

Yes — ours is the only ocean-view Finnish cedar sauna and cold plunge on Nusa Ceningan, just a few minutes across the Yellow Bridge from Nusa Lembongan. If you are staying on Nusa Lembongan and looking for a proper wellness experience, it is a short and scenic trip over to our deck overlooking the Indian Ocean.

How much does the sauna and cold plunge cost?

The sauna and cold plunge are complimentary for resort guests. Day visitors from Nusa Lembongan or Nusa Ceningan are welcome with a minimum spend at our restaurant and bar, which also gives you access to the infinity pool and beach. Message us on WhatsApp for current rates and to reserve a session.

Can I use the sauna and cold plunge if I am not staying at the resort?

Yes. Day visitors are welcome to enjoy the sauna, cold plunge, and infinity pool with a minimum spend at the restaurant and bar. It is a popular way for travellers staying on Nusa Lembongan to experience the wellness side of Segara for a few hours before heading back across the Yellow Bridge.

What is contrast therapy and why is it good for you?

Contrast therapy is the practice of alternating heat (sauna) and cold (cold plunge) to stimulate your circulatory and nervous systems. The shift from hot to cold pumps blood through the body, can reduce inflammation and muscle tension, and often produces a lasting sense of calm and alertness. At Segara, you do it with the Indian Ocean stretching out in front of you — which makes it rather special.
